मावलों ने अहमद शाह अब्दाली की विशाल सेना के खिलाफ संघर्ष किया।
हजारों मराठा वीर योद्धा स्वराज्य और स्वधर्म के बचाव में आए।
हम 14 जनवरी, 1761 को कभी नहीं भूलेंगे।

डेढ़ लाख, मराठी लोगों की तीन पीढ़ियों को एक दिन में एक ही स्थान पर मार दिया गया था।
खड़ा मराठा कट गया। इस दिन को सचमुच काले दिन के रूप में दर्ज किया गया था।
Phrase पानीपत बनने ’का मुहावरा भी जड़ जमा लिया।
युद्ध!
युद्ध को विजय या पराजय कहा जाता है। क्या पानीपत मराठों की सबसे बड़ी हार थी?
मराठों की सेना काट दी गई, तो क्या गार्डस जीत गए और मराठा हार गए?
इस युद्ध के बाद क्या हुआ?
यह खैबर दर्रे का आखिरी हमला था।
मराठों की तीन पीढ़ियाँ बीत चुकी हैं, लेकिन गणों की रीढ़ टूट गई है! सदियों से चली आ रही परंपरा एक बार टूट गई।
अब्दाली का कॉलरबोन टूट गया था और इसलिए उसका भाग्य बदल गया था।
घर जाकर उसकी मौत हो गई।
फिर अल्लाह हु अकबर का रोना कण्ठ से नहीं निकला।
आर्यावर्त को फिर से उस सुल्तान के हमले का सामना नहीं करना पड़ा।
यही हम इस युद्ध में हासिल करना चाहते थे!
हासिल!
जहां हार हुई!
पानीपत देश के लिए मराठों द्वारा किया गया सबसे अच्छा बलिदान था। बलिदान देशभक्ति है।
फिर, किसी को भी देशभक्ति के सबूत के लिए मराठों से नहीं पूछना चाहिए!
मराठा अकेले लड़े!
दत्ताजी के मराठा, जिन्होंने कहा कि वह जीवित रहेंगे और और भी लड़ेंगे, भूखे पेट और प्यासे होंठों के साथ अकेले लड़े। राजपूत, जाट, कोई नहीं आया! अब्दाली एक बार काम करेगा लेकिन मार्था नहीं!
हर कोई एक के रूप में नहीं लड़ा,

अगर महाराष्ट्र इस देश का नेतृत्व करना चाहता है, तो हमें देश का विश्वास अर्जित करना होगा। सभी देशों में सम्मान अर्जित किया जाना चाहिए !!
पानीपत का मतलब है दूसरों पर जीत, और तुमसे हार !!
अपने ही लोगों में असहमति, अपने ही लोगों में अविश्वास और अपना बहुत बड़ा आघात !!
इस अर्थ में, पानीपत एक शिक्षण है !!
और एक बात आपने गौर की होगी।
हम इसे लड़ाई नहीं कहते,
हे युद्ध !!
